WCC Tournament: BYU, Waves, Gaels, Zags (Who Oust Pilots) Advance

The quarterfinal round of the West Coast Conference Men's Basketball Tournament took place on Saturday at the Orleans Arena in Paradise, Nevada, near Las Vegas on Saturday with four games.

In the opener, Kyle Collinsworth, the WCC Player of the Year, scored 13 points and came up with two key assists late in the contest as the third-seeded BYU Cougars (23-9) outlasted sixth-seeded Santa Clara (11-20) 72-60, despite 30 points from the Broncos' Jared Brownridge.



In the next contest, Jeremy Major converted five three-point shots en route to a season-high-matching 28 points as the #4-seeded Pepperdine Waves (18-12) held off the #5-seeded San Francisco Dons (15-15) 90-86.  Devin Watson scored 33 points and Tim Derksen added 23 points to pace the Dons.



In the third game, Dave Pineau scored 16 points, grabbed eight rebounds, and dished out five assists as the top-seeded Saint Mary's Gaels (26-4) used a balanced attack to down the eighth-seeded Loyola Marymount Lions (14-17) 60-48. 



In Saturday's finale, Eric McClellan scored a season-high 26 points while Domantas Sabonis added 24 as the second-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (25-5) dominated the seventh-seeded Portland Pilots (12-20) 92-67.
