NCAA South: Nova, Jayhawks Advance To Final With Final-Four Spot At Stake

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Sweet Sixteen commenced on Thursday with four games, two of them in the South Regional, both contested at the KFC Yum! Center in Louisville, Kentucky.

In the opener, Ryan Arcidiacono and Kris Jenkins each scored 21 points as the second-seeded Villanova Wildcats (32-5) dominated the fifth-seeded Miami Hurricanes (27-8) 92-69 to advance to their first Elite Eight appearance since 2009.

Sheldon McClellan, who converted a career-high-tying five three-pointers, paced the Canes with 26 points.

In the nightcap, Perry Ellis scored 27 points as the top-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (33-4) overpowered the fifth-seeded Maryland Terrapins (27-9) 79-63.

Kansas and Villanova will play for the South Regional title and a berth in the Final Four in Houston on Saturday in Louisville (5:49 PM Pacific Time, CBS).
