NCAA East: Irish Storm Back To Upend Badgers; Tar Heels Too Much For Hoosiers

The semifinal round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's East Regional took place on Friday with two games contested at Philadelphia's Wells Fargo Center.

In the opener, Demetrius Jackson (who scored 16 points) stripped the ball and scored the go-ahead layup with 14.7 seconds left, then sealed his team's comeback victory a second steal, followed by two successful free throws as the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (24-11) went on an 8-0 run in the final 19 seconds and upended the Wisconsin Badgers (22-13) 61-56, placing them one victory away from their first Final Four since 1978.

V.J. Beachem paced the sixth-seeded Irish with 19 points while Ethan Happ topped the seventh-seeded Badgers with 14 (along with his 12 rebounds).

In the nightcap, Marcus Paige scored 21 points while Brice Johnson (while grabbing ten rebounds) added 20 the top-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (31-6) overpowered the fifth-seeded Indiana Hoosiers (27-8) 101-86, despite 25 points from IU's Yogi Ferrell and 21 from Troy Williams.

Both of Easter Sunday's regional finals feature two ACC schools.  North Carolina and Notre Dame will battle in Philadelphia for the East Regional crown and a Final Four berth starting at 5:49 PM Pacific Time on TBS.
