NCAA East: Fighting Irish Pull Out Late Win Over Stubborn Lumberjacks; Badgers Pull Out Late Victory Over Musketeers To Join Irish In Sweet 16

Two games were played in the second round of the East Regional of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament on Sunday.

At Brooklyn, New York:

Rex Plfuegor tapped in a missed shot with 1.5 seconds remaining as the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame (23-11) survived a gallant effort from 14th-seeded Stephen F. Austin (28-6) 76-75.

Demetrius Jackson scored 18 points while Zach Augustin added 16 (to go with his 15 rebounds) paced the sixth-seeded Irish while Thomas Walkup topped the Lumberjacks with 21.

At St. Louis:

Bronson Koenig scored 20 points, hitting six three-pointers (including the game winner as time was expiring) in the process as the seventh-seeded Wisconsin Badgers (22-12) knocked off the second-seeded Xavier Musketeers (28-6) 66-63.
