Big Sky Tournament: Wildcats (At Vikings' Expense), Fighting Hawks, Griz, Vandals Advance To Semis

The quarterfinal round of the Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Tournament took place on Thursday with four games to be played at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada.

Game #1:

In the opening game, Ryan Richardson scored 21 points as the top-seeded Weber State Wildcats (24-8) held off the eighth-seeded Portland State Vikings (13-18) 78-74.

Cameron Forte paced the Vikings, whose season came to an end, with 25 points while grabbing seven rebounds.

Game #2:

Drick Bernstine scored 14 points and grabbed a career-high 21 rebounds as the fifth-seeded North Dakota Fighting Hawks (17-14) dismantled the fourth-seeded Idaho State Bengals (16-15) 83-49.

Adam McDermott paced the Fighting Hawks with 16 points

Game #3:

With Martin Bruening scoring 24 points and grabbing 16 rebounds, the second-seeded Montana Grizzlies (20-10) defeated the tenth-seeded Sacramento State Hornets (14-17) 70-53.

Game #4:

In the Thursday finale, Nate Sherwood scored 19 points as the third-seeded Idaho Vandals (21-11) topped the sixth-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles (17-15) 77-73.

Venky Jois (who grabbed 12 rebounds) and Felix Von Hofe each scored 17 points for EWU.

In Friday's semifinal contests, #1-seeded Weber State will take on #5 North Dakota in the opener (5:35 PM Pacific Time), then #2 Montana will battle #3 Idaho (8:05 PM Pacific Time).
