NCAA East: Badgers, Musketeers, Lumberjacks (Who Knock Off West Virginia, Fighting Irish Advance To Round of 32

Action from the opening round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's East Regional continued on Friday with four games.

Two games were contested at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

In the opener, Ethan Happ scored 15 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the seventh-seeded Wisconsin Badgers (21-12) out-defensed the tenth-seeded Pittsburgh Panthers (21-12) 47-43.

The Oregon Ducks by themselves scored 91 points in their fist-beating of Holy Cross in Spokane, more than the total the Badgers and Panthers scored combined (90).

In the nightcap, James Farr scored 18 points and pulled down 15 rebounds as the #2-seeded Xavier Musketeers (28-5) manhandled the #15-seeded Weber State Wildcats (26-9) 71-53.

Two other contests took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.

In the opener, Thomas Walkup scored 33 points, grabbed nine rebounds, and dished out four assists, becoming a one-man wrecking crew in the process as the fourteenth-seeded Stephen F. Austin Lumberjacks (28-5) stretched the nation's longest current winning streak to 21 games following their 70-56 upset victory over the third-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers (26-9).

In the nightcap, the #6-seeded Fighting Irish of Notre Dame  (22-11) came back from a sluggish first half to upend the eleventh-seeded Michigan Wolverines (23-13) 70-63. 

V.J. Beacham paced the Irish with 18 points.
