Pac-12 Tournament: Huskies, Buffaloes, Trojans, Beavers Advance To Quarterfinals

the Pac-12 Conference Men's Basketball Tournament opened on Wednesday with four games played at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Paradise, Nevada, near Las Vegas.

In the opening game, Dejounte Murray scored 25 points while Marquese Chriss added 18 (to go with his ten rebounds) as the eighth-seeded Washington Huskies (18-13) dominated ninth-seeded Stanford (15-15) 91-68.  The Huskies will face top-seeded Oregon in a quarterfinal match on Thursday (12:00 PM Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks).

In the second game, George King scored 21 points (17 of them in the first half) as the fifth-seeded Colorado Buffaloes (22-10) buffaloed the 12th-seeded Washington State Cougars (9-22) 80-56.  Next up for CU, a Thursday quarterfinal encounter with fourth-seeded Arizona (2:30 PM Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks)

In the third contest, Bennie Boatwright scored 19 points and Jordan McLaughlin added 18 as the #7-seeded Southern California Trojans (21-11) throttled #10-seeded UCLA (15-17) 95-71.  It was the first time since 1953-54 that the Trojans won three games in the same season against the Bruins.  USC will next face second-seeded Utah on Thursday in the quarterfinal round (6:00 PM Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks).

In the finale, Stephen Thompson, Jr. scored 13 points as the sixth-seeded Oregon State Beavers (19-11) used a balanced attack to thwart the eleventh-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils (15-17) 75-66 as the Beavers are making a run at their first NCAA Tournament berth since 1990.

The Sun Devils' Gerry Blakes led all scorers with 20 points.

The Beavers will next take on California in the quarterfinal round on Thursday night (8:30 PM Pacific Time, Fox Sports 1).
