NCAA Tournament: Easy Wins For Florida Gulf Coast, Shockers; Get Heels, Zona, Next, Respectively

The NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament opened on Tuesday with two games at the University of Dayton Arena in Dayton, Ohio.

In the opener, Marc-Eddy Norelia scored 20 pionts and grabbed 10 rebounds as the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles (21-13) demolished the overmatched Fairleigh Dickinson University Knights (18-15) 96-65.

The Eagles will now head to Raleigh, North Carolina for a Thursday encounter with North Carolina, the East Regional's top seed.

In the nightcap, Ron Baker (who grabbed nine rebounds) and Fred VanVleet each scored 14 points as the Wichita State Shockers (25-8) scored 20 of the last 22 points and pasted the Vanderbilt Commodores (19-14) 70-50.

A Thursday match with South Regional #6-seeded Arizona at Providence, Rhode Island is in order for the Shockers.
