The NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament's Round of 64 commenced with sixteen games on Thursday, two of them in the West Regional, both played at Providence, Rhode Island's Dunkin' Donuts Center.
In the opener, Grayson Allen and Marshall Plumlee each 23 points (a career-high for the latter) and the fourth-seeded Duke Blue Devils (24-10) held off the 13th-seeded UNC-Wilmington Seahawks (25-8) 93-85.
Brandon Ingram added 20 points to the Blue Devils' coffers.
Craig Ponder paced the Seahawks with 22 points.
In the nightcap (which was played in the afternoon), Makai Mason delivered a career-high 31 points as the 12th-seeded Yale Bulldogs (23-6), in their first NCAA tourney appearance since 1962, picked up their first-ever NCAA tourney victory by knocking off the #5-seeded Baylor Bears (22-12) 79-75.
Taurean Prince scored 28 points to top the Bears.
