NCAA West: Sooners, A&M, Ducks (Who Will Face Duke) Advance To Sweet Sixteen

Three games were held in the second round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's West Regional on Sunday.

Two games were contested at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City.

In the opener, Buddy Hield scored 36 points (19 of them in the final eight minutes) as the second-seeded Oklahoma Sooners (27-7) held off the tenth-seeded Virginia Commonwealth Rams (25-11) 85-81.

Melvin Johnson scored 22 points (18 in the second half) and JeQuan Lewis added 21 for the Rams.

In the nightcap, Alex Caruso scored 25 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the third-seeded Texas A&M Aggies (28-8) came storming back from down 10 points with less than 30 seconds left in regulation to outlast the eleventh-seeded Northern Iowa Panthers (23-13) 92-88 in double overtime.

Danuel House added 22 points (all in the second half and overtime) to the Aggies' coffers.

Jeremy Morgan scored 36 points to pace the Panthers while grabbing 12 rebounds.

At Spokane, Washington:

In the lone West Regional second-round Sunday contest to be played at the Seattle Veterans' Memorial Arena, Dillon Brooks scored 25 points as the top-seeded Oregon Ducks (30-6) held off the eighth-seeded Saint Joseph's Hawks (28-8) 69-64.

The victory was the Ducks' tenth consecutive.
