TAR HEELS BATTER FIGHTING IRISH TO WIN EAST REGIONAL FINAL FOR 19TH FINAL FOUR TRIP

At Philadelphia:

In Sunday's final of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's East Regional, Brice Johnson, named the Regional's Most Outstanding Player, scored 25 points and grabbed 12 rebounds (to produce his school's single-season record 23rd double double) as the North Carolina Tar Heels (32-6) became the lone regional top seed to reach the Final Four (for an NCAA record 19th time----the first since 2009) with an 88-74 victory over the sixth-seeded Notre Dame Fighting Irish (24-12), despite 26 points from the Irish's Demetrius Jackson.

North Carolina will take on Syracuse in the second half of the national semifinal double-header this coming Saturday at NRG Stadium in Houston at 5:49 PM Pacific Time.

The opening game is Villanova vs. Oklahoma, set to tip off at 3:09 PM Pacific Time.

Both games are to be cablecast by TBS.
