NCAA Midwest: Orangemen Advance To Round of 32; So Do Blue Raiders Who Knock Off Michigan State

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Round of 64 continued on Friday with 16 games, two of them in the Midwest Regional, both played at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis.

In the opener, Malachi Richardson scored 21 points as the tenth-seeded Syracuse Orangemen (19-13), with five players scoring in double figures, whacked the seventh-seeded Dayton Flyers (25-8) 70-51.

In the finale, Reggie Upshaw scored 21 points as the #15-seeded Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders (25-9) stunned second-seeded Michigan State 9(29-6) 0-81.

The Blue Raiders, with all five starters scoring in double figures,  never trailed in the game.

Matt Costello scored 22 points (to go with his nine rebounds) to pace the Spartans.
