Jordan Davis scored 26 points on Monday while Brodie Hume added 19 as the Northern Colorado Bears (8-5 overall, 2-0 in Big Sky conference play) defeated the Portland State Vikings (5-7, 0-1) 73-60 on the road, ruining the Vikes' Big Sky conference opener.

Gator Bowl: Aggies Demolish NC State

At Jacksonville, Florida:

In Monday's Gator Bowl, Trayveon Williams ran for 236 yards and three touchdowns as the Texas A and M Aggies (#19 in the CFP rankings; 9-4) demolished the North Carolina State Wolfpack (9-4) 52-13.

Holiday Bowl: Northwestern Overcomes Utah, Upends Utes

At San Diego, California:

Clayton Thorson threw for 241 yards and two touchdowns on Monday as the Northwestern Wildcats (#22 in the CFP rankings; 9-5) knocked off the Utah Runnin' Utes (#17 CFP; 9-5) in the Holiday Bowl.

The Wildcats, during a nine-minute third-quarter stretch, converted three Utes turnovers into 21 points, highlighted by Jared McGee's 82-yard fumble return for a touchdown.

Liberty Bowl: Cowboys (OSU, That Is), Hold Off Mizzou

At Memphis, Tennessee:

Quarterback Taylor Cornelius threw for 336 yards and four touchdowns on Monday as the Oklahoma State Cowboys (7-6) racked up a wild 38-33 Liberty Bowl victory over the Missouri Tigers (#23 in the CFP rankings; 8-5).

RedBox Bowl: Ducks Win Defensive Battle With Spartans

At Santa Clara, California:

In Monday's RedBox Bowl, quarterback Justin Herber threw a touchdown pass of 28 yards to Dillon Mitchell as the Oregon Ducks, (9-4), with Adam Stack adding the extra point,  held off the Michigan State Spartans (7-6) 7-6 for their first postseason victory since the 2015 Rose Bowl (which was a College Football Playoff semifinal contest).


Sun Bowl: Stanford Tops Pitt In El Paso

At El Paso, Texas:

Cameron Scarlett scored both touchdowns on Monday as the Stanford Cardinal (9-4) defeated the Pittsburgh Panthers (7-7) 14-13 in the latest edition of the Sun Bowl.

Military Bowl: Bearcats Upend Hokies

At Annapolis, Maryland:

In Monday's Military Bowl, Michael Warren, who ran for 166 yards, scored the game-winning touchdown, his second of the game, with 89 seconds remaining as the Cincinnati Bearcats (11-2) defeated the Virginia Tech Hokies (6-7) 35-31.

Niners Drop Finale To Rams In LA As Angelinos Nail Down First-Round Playoff Bye

At Los Angeles:

In the National Football League regular-season finale for both teams on Sunday, quarterback Jared Goff threw for four touchdowns (two each to Brandin Cooks and Josh Reynolds) while C.J. Anderson ran for 132 yards and a touchdown in place of the injured Todd Gurley II as the Los Angeles Rams (13-3) nailed down a first-round bye in the fourth-coming playoffs by overpowering the visiting San Francisco 49ers (4-12) 48-32.

The Rams swept the Niners for the first time since 2004.

San Francisco, who went 0-8 on the road for the first time since 1979,  set an NFL record with only seven takeaways this season.  That's for the entire season, folks.

In one bright spot for the 49ers, Pro-Bowl-bound George Kittle set a new receiving yardage single-season record for a tight end with 1,377, thanks to 149 yards in the finale (and he scored a touchdown).

Beavers Close Out Non-League Play At Home With Convincing Win Against Central Connecticut

At Corvallis, Oregon:

Tres Tinkle scored 20 points on Saturday as the Oregon State Beavers (8-4) closed out non-conference play by dominating the visiting Central Connecticut State Blue Devils (6-7) 80-59.

The Beavers open Pac-12 play on Saturday, January 5 in Eugene against archrival Oregon in the Civil War Game.

Here's Another Rare NFL Find

Here's the front cover of the official New York Bulldogs' program for the club's October 7, 1949 National Football League home game at the Polo Grounds against the Green Bay Packers.  The Bulldogs were renamed the New York Yanks in 1950, played two more seasons before the franchise was terminated, with that team's roster awarded to the newly-formed, and ultimately doomed, Dallas Texans in 1952.

Quarterback Gardner Minshew completed 35 of 49 passes for 299 yards and two touchdowns on Friday (while running for 16 yards and another score) as the Washington State Cougars (#13 in the CFP Rankings; 11-2) held off the Iowa State Cyclones (#24 CFP; 8-5) 28-26 in the Alamo Bowl.

The Cougs completed their first-ever 11-win season with the victory.


Camping World Bowl: Orangemen Overcome Mountaineers

At Orlando, Florida:

Quarterback Eric Dungey threw for 303 yards and a touchdown on Friday as the Syracuse Orangemen (#20, CFP rankings; 10-3) defeated the West Virginia Mountaineers (#16, CFP; 8-4) 34-18 in the Camping World Bowl.

The Orangemen capped off their first 10-win season since 2001.

Music City Bowl: Auburn's Tigers Dismember Boilermakers

At Nashville, Tennessee:

In Friday's edition of the Music City Bowl, quarterback Jarrett Stidham threw for 373 yards and five touchdowns as the Auburn Tigers (8-5) scored 56 points in the first half en route to a 63-14 dismembering of the Purdue Boilermakers (6-7).

In Thursday's edition of the Pinstripe Bowl, Jonathan Taylor ran for 205 yards and a touchdown as the Wisconsin Badgers (8-5) demolished the Miami Hurricanes (7-6) 35-3.

Independence Bowl: Blue Devils Roast Owls In Shreveport

At Shreveport, Louisiana:

Daniel Jones threw for 423 yards and five touchdowns on Thursday as the Duke Blue Devils (8-5) blasted the Temple Owls (8-5) 56-27 in the Independence Bowl.

The Blue Devils scored the game's last 42 points.

Running back Mohamed Ibrahim carried the ball 31 times for 224 yards and two touchdowns on Wednesday as the Minnesota Golden Gophers (7-6) dominated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-6) 34-10 in the Quick Lane Bowl, ruining the swan song for Yellow Jackets' head football coach Phil Johnson.

First Responder Bowl: Canceled Due To Severe Weather Threat

At Dallas:

So much for Boise State's first appearance at Dallas' famed Cotton Bowl Stadium as Wednesday's scheduled First Responders Bowl between the 25th-ranked Broncos (10-3) and the Boston College Eagles (7-5) was called off due to a severe weather threat, a first for a bowl game.

The contest was called off after a delay of nearly 90 minutes with the Eagles leading 7-0 with 5:08 remaining in the opening period.

The Broncos' ranking was in the last College Football Playoff rankings.

The Black Knights capped off the first eleven-win season in program history.

Birmingham Bowl: Demon Deacons Pull Out Late Victory In Alabama

At Birmingham, Alabama:

Quarterback Jamie Newman ran one yard for the winning touchdown with 34 seconds remaining on Saturday as the Wake Forest Demon Deacons (7-6) upended the Memphis Tigers (8-6) 37-34 in the Birmingham Bowl.

The Tigers' Riley Patterson's game-tying 44-yard field-goal attempt went wide as time expired.

The Tigers (who changed their name from Dodgers), who lost all ten games in 1944, would merge with the Yanks in 1945 under the name of The Yanks.

That merger was dissolved after that 1945 season as Tigers' owner Dan Topping defected to the newly-formed All America Football Conference.

Michael Nuga paced the Vikings with his career-high 24 points.

Gasparilla Bowl: Thundering Herd Gore Bulls; USF Loses Final Six Games After 7-0 Start

At Tampa, Florida:

In Thursday's edition of the Gasparilla Bowl, quarterback Isaiah Green completed 17 of 25 passes for 221 yards while his cousin Keion Davis ran for two touchdowns as the Marshall Thundering Herd (9-4) dominated the sagging South Florida Bulls (7-6) 38-20.

The Bulls, who started the season 7-0, dropped their last six games.

It was the first-ever bowl victory in the history of the Blazers' football program---not bad for a program that had been shut down only a few years ago.

Jordan Love threw for 359 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday as the Utah State Aggies (11-2) manhandled the North Texas Mean Green (9-4) 52-13 in the New Mexico Bowl.

Frank Maile served as the Aggies' interim head coach with Matt Wells having left to take the vacant Texas Tech head coaching job.

Former Wisconsin and Oregon State head coach Gary Andersen is set to return to Utah State as the school's head football coach.

Cure Bowl: Green Wave Too Much For Ragin' Cajuns

At Orlando, Florida:

In the opening game of college football's bowl season, Darius Bradwell ran for a career best 150 yards and two touchdowns on Saturday as the Tulane Green Wave (7-6) defeated the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (7-7) 41-24 in the Cure Bowl.

The victory was the Green Wave's first in a bowl game since the 2002 Hawaii Bowl.

Josef Martinez (39') and Franco Escobar (54') each scored once while goalkeeper Brad Guzan came up with three saves to preserve the shutout in his first championship match for club and country as Atlanta United, in front of an MLS Cup Final record 73,019 fans, blanked the visiting Portland Timbers 2-0 to win their first league title in only their second season of existence.

It was the first championship in a major league by an Atlanta club since the Braves won the 1995 World Series.

Kenny Wooten scored 20 points while Bol Bol added 18 on Saturday as the Oregon Ducks (5-3) defeated visiting Nebraska-Omaha (3-7) 84-61.

Zach Jackson scored 21 points to top the Mavericks.

College Hoops: Ducks Fall Out Of Both Polls After 0-2 Week

In the wake of defeats at the hands of Texas Southern (at home) and Houston (away), the Oregon Ducks fell out of both the Associated Press (where they were ranked #18 last week) and USA Today/Coaches (#21) men's college basketball polls that were released on Monday.

The Ducks have support where they would be ranked in a tie for #41 (with Notre Dame, Arkansas, and UCLA) in the former, #36 in the latter.

Seahawks Too Much For Niners; San Fran Eliminated From Playoff Contention

At Seattle:

Quarterback Russell Wilson threw for 185 yards and four touchdowns, two to Jaron Brown and one each to Tyler Lockett and Doug Baldwin, while linebacker Bobby Wagner ran back an intercepted pass for a franchise-record 98 yards and another score as the Seattle Seahawks (7-5) overpowered the visiting San Francisco 49ers (2-10) 43-16, assuring the visitors of missing the playoffs for a fifth consecutive season.

Alabama, Clemson, Notre Dame, and Oklahoma secured the four spots in the College Football Playoff after the season's final look at the CFP rankings released on Sunday.

Georgia, Ohio State, Michigan, Central Florida, Washington (as the highest ranked Pac-12 team) and Florida rounded out the top ten.

Washington State (at #13) and Utah (#17) were the other Pac-12 schools in the rankings.
