Jalen Brunson, named the series Most Valuable Player, scored 45 points on Saturday as the New York Knicks came back from a double-digit deficit to defeat the homestanding San Antonio Spurs 94-90 to win their first NBA championship since 1973 and their third overall.
The Knickerbockers won the NBA Finals in six games.
Dylan Harper came off the bench to score 25 points to lead the Spurs, with Victor Wembanyama added 19, to go with 14 rebounds.

Stanley Cup Final: Hurricanes One Win Away From First Cup Since 2006

Andriy Svechnikov scored two goals (one, an empty-netter) while Jordan Staal and Sebastian Aho each added a tally on Thursday as the Carolina Hurricanes defeated the visiting Vegas Golden Knights 4-2 in game five of the Stanley Cup Final.
Pavel Dorofeyev scored both Vegas goals, one of them on the power play.
The Hurricanes, now up three games to two, can lock up their first Stanley Cup championship since 2006 with a game-six victory at T-Mobile Arena in Paradise, Nevada on Sunday at 5:00 PM Pacific Time on ABC.

OG Anunoby, who scored 33 points, scored the game-winning basket with 1.2 seconds remaining in regulation on Wednesday as the New York Knicks came back from a 29-point deficit to stun the visiting San Antonio Spurs 107-106 in game four of the NBA Finals.
It was the greatest comeback in NBA Finals history.
Jalen Brunson helped New York's cause with 36 points.
Victor Wembanyama paced the Spurs with 24 points and grabbed 13 rebounds while Dylan Harper came off the bench to score 24.

NBA Finals: Spurs Steal Game Three From Knicks, Cut New York's Series Advantage To 2-1
At Madison Square Garden, New York City:
In Monday's third game of the NBA Finals, Victor Wembanyama scored 32 points (with eight rebounds) while Stephon Castle added 23 as the San Antonio Spurs held off the homestanding New York Knicks 115-111 to cut New York's series advantage to two games to one.
Six Spurs, including all five starters, scored in double digits.
Jalen Brunson led the Knicks with 32 points while OG Anunoby added 28.
The series will resume this coming Wednesday at Madison Square Garden at 5:30 PM Pacific Time on ABC.

With Belmont Park still undergoing construction, Golden Tempo, with Jose Ortiz aboard and trained by Cherie DeVaux, the winner of the Kentucky Derby who skipped the Preakness Stakes, came out on top in the 158th Belmont Stakes

Shea Theodore scored the winning goal at 5:38 of the second overtime period on Saturday as the Vegas Golden Knights defeated the visiting Carolina Hurricanes 5-4 to take a two-games-to-one lead in the Stanley Cup Final.
Mitch Marner had a hand in the other four Vegas goals, scoring a natural hat trick and assisting on Tomas Hertl's power-play goal, all in the second period.
The Hurricanes came storming back in the third period with Jordan Martinook, Taylor Hall, Jordan Staal, and Andrei Svechnikov (power play) each tallying a goal.

In Tuesday's opening game of the Stanley Cup Final, Tomas Hertl scored the winning goal with 3:24 remaining in regulation time as the visiting Vegas Golden Knights outlasted the Carolina Hurricanes 5-4.
Shea Theodore, Ivan Barbashev, William Karlsson, and Brett Howden also scored for the Knights.
Nikolaj Ehlers scored twice for the Canes while Jordan Staal and Shayne Gostibehere also tallied for the hosts.
The Final will continue on Thursday night in Raleigh on ABC.
