From 1940, here's "Mr. Elephant Goes To Town," part of Columbia Pictures' Color Rhapsody series, in which a circus elephant gets drunk on "cold elixir" before he befriends a pink elephant.  Our hero is in no shape when the ringmaster finds him.



With animation by Sid Marcus and music by Joe De Nat, this cartoon, made by the Screen Gems cartoon studio in Hollywood and shown with the original main titles, was directed by Art Davis.

WIDE OPEN SPACES-Gandy Goose (Terrytoons/TCF-1950)

From 1950, let's travel with Sheriff Gandy Goose in "Wide Open Space," made by Terrytoons at New Rochelle, New York, released theatrically by 20th Century-Fox, and complete with original main titles.



In this one, Gandy becomes a new Sheriff in an Old West town and matches wits with a notorious outlaw.

Early Version Of MMA?

From Walter Lantz Productions in 1936 (and released theatrically by Universal Pictures) here's Oswald Rabbit starring in "Battle Royal."  In this one, boxing champ Oswald goes toe-to-toe with wrestling champ Punchy Pig.  With story by Walter Lantz and Victor McLeod, music by James Dietrich, and animation by Ed Benedict and Fred Kopietz, this cartoon was produced by directed by Walter Lantz.
