At Progressive Field, Cleveland: Munetaka Murakami smacked a two-run homer while five pitchers combined for a three-hit shutout as the Chicago White Sox took the opening game on the road 3-0 over the Cleveland Guardians.
At Tropicana Field, St. Petersburg, Florida:
Drew Rasmussen threw a no-hitter that lasted 7 2/3 innings while Jonathan Aranda hit a home run for the game's lone hit as the Tampa Bay Rays opened their best-of-five Divisional Playoff series blanking the visiting New York Yankees 1-0.
NATIONAL LEAGUE
At Dodger Stadium, Los Angeles:
Tarik Skubal pitched six strong innings in triple-digit heat while Teoscar Hernandez, Kyle Tucker, and Max Muncy each homered as the Los Angeles Dodgers took game one of their Divisional Playoff series 5-3 at home over the Atlanta Braves.
At American Family Field, Milwaukee:
William Contreras hit the go-ahead home run in the seventh inning and the homestanding Milwaukee Brewers held off the San Diego Padres 3-2 in game one of their Divisional Playoff series.
