Braun Hatfield scored 23 points while Joey Calcaterra and Yauhen Massalski (who grabbed 12 rebounds coming off the bench) each added 19 as the San Diego Toreros (9-17 overall, 2-9 in WCC play) defeated the visiting Portland Pilots (9-17, 1-10) 88-81 on Saturday.

JoJo Walker, who was one of five Pilots to score in double figures, paced Portland with 19 points as the guests have now dropped nine straight games and have fallen to the West Coast Conference basement.

Jared Rodriguez came off the bench on Saturday to score 17 points as the San Diego Toreros (8-13 overall, 1-5 in WCC play) picked up their first conference victory of the season, 77-67 on the road at the Portland Pilots' (9-11, 1-4) expense.

Isaiah Pineiro scored 22 points and pulled in 16 rebounds on Thursday as the San Diego Toreros (17-11 overall, 6-7 in WCC play) downed the visiting Portland Pilots (7-21, 0-13) 63-52.

The Pilots, one of six Division I schools still winless in conference play (alongside Vanderbilt [SEC], Tulane [American], San Jose State [Mountain West], California-Berkeley [Pac-12], and Chicago State[WAC]), have now dropped 14 straight games.

Jose Martinez scored 15 points on Thursday as the San Diego Toreros (13-6 overall, 2-2 in WCC play) manhandled the Portland Pilots (7-12, 0-4) 76-55.

A 20-point, nine-rebound Wednesday performance from Bol Bol propelled the Oregon Ducks (6-3) to a 65-55 home victory over San Diego (8-3).

In Saturday action from the second round of the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, Tyler Williams hit the game-winning three-point shot with one second remaining as the San Diego Toreros (20-13) knocked off the visiting Portland State Vikings (20-14) 67-64, ending the Vikings' season.

Pilots Upend Toreros In San Diego For First Conference Win

Josh McSwiggan scored 15 points on Thursday night as the Portland Pilots (7-13 overall, 1-6 in WCC) picked up their first conference win of the season, 55-49 on the road over the San Diego Toreros (13-6, 4-3).

Isaiah Pineiro topped the Toreros with 26 points while grabbing 11 rebounds.  However, he was the only San Diego player to score in double figures.

Isaiah Wright scored a career-high 30 points on Thursday as the San Diego Toreros (12-3 overall, 3-0 in WCC play) defeated the Portland Pilots (6-10, 0-3) 81-74 on the road in overtime.

Olin Carter III Scored 21 points while Cameron Neubauer added 18 on Saturday night as the San Diego Toreros (13-17 overall, 6-12 in West Coast play) outlasted the visiting Portland Pilots (10-21, 2-16) 85-82 in the regular-season finale for both squads.

D'Marques Tyson paced the Pilots, who dropped 16 of their last 17 games overall (and their last 16 conference games), with 24 points.

Olin Carter III scored 24 points (making five three-pointers in the process) on Saturday night as the San Diego Toreros (11-11 overall, 4-6 in WCC play) handed the Portland Pilots (9-13, 2-8) their eight consecutive defeat, 68-52 on the road.

Jazz Johnson paced the Pilots with 19 points.

Johnny Dee scored 12 points while Cameron Neubauer and Vasa Pusica each added 10 as the San Diego Toreros (15-15 overall, 8-10 in WCC play) defeated home-standing Portland (16-14, 7-11) 78-66 in the regular-season finale for both schools on Saturday afternoon, despite Kevin Bailey's 23 points and Alec Wintering's 21 for the Pilots, who now dropped four straight contests heading into the West Coast Conference Tournament, which takes place next week in Las Vegas.

Pilots Pull Out Last-Second Road Win Over Toreros In Conference Opener

In the West Coast Conference opener for both schools, Alec Wintering converted a three-point shot with 0.3 seconds left in regulation as the Portland Pilots (1-0 in WCC play, 10-3 overall) scored the last nine points of their 61-58 road win over the San Diego Toreros (0-1, 7-6).

In Saturday action from the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic, Eric Moreland and Roberto Nelson each netted 20 points as the Oregon State Beavers (9-2)  defeated San Diego 86-79 (6-7).  The victory was the fifth' consecutive for the Beavers.
