Broncos Buck Game Pilots In Regular-Season Finale

At Santa Clara, California:

In Saturday's regular-season finale for both schools, D.J. Mitchell scored 25 points while Keshawn Justice added 20 (to go with his eight rebounds) as the Santa Clara Broncos (19-12 overall, 6-10 in WCC play) held off the visiting, and game, Portland Pilots (9-22, 1-15) 73-68.

The Pilots, who dropped their last 14 games, will be the tenth-seeded team in the West Coast Conference tournament, which will open on Thursday in Paradise, Nevada, near Las Vegas.

Portland's tournament opener will take place on Wednesday at 8:00 PM Pacific Time (BYUtv) against those same Broncos.

Dons Whack Grounded Pilots

At San Francisco:

Jimbo Lull (who grabbed 13 rebounds) and Jamaree Bouyea each scored 16 points on Thursday night as the San Francisco Dons (19-11 overall, 8-7 in WCC play) proved too much for the visiting Portland Pilots (9-21, 1-14) 81-65.

Five Dons scored in double figures while Tahirou Diabate and JoJo Walker paced the Pilots, now on a 13-game losing skid, with 17 points each.

Keli Leaupepe scored a season-high 25 points on Saturday as the Loyola Marymount Lions (10-18 overall, 4-10 in WCC play) handed the struggling Portland Pilots (9-20, 1-13) their 12th consecutive defeat 66-58 on the road.

Colbey Ross scored 27 of his 30 points in the second half while grabbing a career-high 14 rebounds as the Pepperdine Waves (15-13 overall, 8-6 in WCC play) overcame the Portland Pilots (9-19, 1-12) 66-59 on the road on Thursday.

Tigers Devour Hapless Pilots

At Stockton, California:

Jahlil Tripp scored 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Thursday as the Pacific Tigers (20-8 overall, 8-4 in WCC play) dominated the visiting Portland Pilots (9-18, 1-11) 75-55.

JoJo Walker scored 20 points to top the Pilots, who have now dropped ten consecutive games.

Toreros Add More Woes On Grounded Pilots

At San Diego:

Braun Hatfield scored 23 points while Joey Calcaterra and Yauhen Massalski (who grabbed 12 rebounds coming off the bench) each added 19 as the San Diego Toreros (9-17 overall, 2-9 in WCC play) defeated the visiting Portland Pilots (9-17, 1-10) 88-81 on Saturday.

JoJo Walker, who was one of five Pilots to score in double figures, paced Portland with 19 points as the guests have now dropped nine straight games and have fallen to the West Coast Conference basement.

Jake Toolson and Yoeli Childs (who grabbed eight rebounds) each scored 22 points on Thursday as the BYU Cougars (18-7 overall, 7-3 in WCC play) mauled the sagging Portland Pilots 9-16, 1-9) 85-54 on the road.

The Pilots have now dropped eight straight games.

Tahirou Diabate topped the Pilots, who have now dropped six successive contests, with 18 points.

Skylar Chavez scored 24 points on Saturday as the Pepperdine Waves (11-10 overall, 4-3 in WCC play) held off the visiting Portland Pilots (9-13, 1-6) 80-69.

Tahirou Diabate topped the Pilots---who have now dropped five consecutive contests----with 25 points while grabbing seven rebounds.

At Portland, Oregon:

Killian Tillie scored 22 points on Thursday night as the Gonzaga Bulldogs (#1 AP, Coaches; 15-1 overall, 1-0 in WCC play) came back from a seven-point halftime deficit to upend the Portland Pilots (8-8, 0-1) 85-72 on the road in the West Coast Conference opener for both schools as a bad night for Oregon's Division I teams came to a close as all four of them were defeated on Thursday.

Tahj Eaddy scored 26 points on Saturday as the Santa Clara Broncos (16-14 overall, 8-8 in WCC play) proved too much for the Portland Pilots (7-24, 0-16) 78-62 on the road.

The Pilots closed out the regular season with 17 straight defeats.

Pilots Grounded Again

At Moraga, California:

Malik Fitts scored 17 points on Thursday as the Saint Mary's Gaels (20-10 overall, 11-4 in WCC play) overpowered the visiting Portland Pilots (7-23, 0-15) 65-48.

Marvin Shaver, Jr. was the only Pilot who scored in double figures with 13 as Portland is now one of four Division I men's teams still winless in conference play (alongside the SEC's Vanderbilt, Tulane of the AAC, and Chicago State of the WAC).

Colbey Ross scored 23 points and dished out 10 assists on Saturday as the Pepperdine Waves (13-16 overall, 6-9 in WCC play) handed the visiting Portland Pilots (7-22, 0-14) their 15th straight defeat 86-80.

Josh McSwiggan topped the Pilots with 20 points.

Pilots Try To Pick Up First WCC Win At San Diego

At San Diego:

Isaiah Pineiro scored 22 points and pulled in 16 rebounds on Thursday as the San Diego Toreros (17-11 overall, 6-7 in WCC play) downed the visiting Portland Pilots (7-21, 0-13) 63-52.

The Pilots, one of six Division I schools still winless in conference play (alongside Vanderbilt [SEC], Tulane [American], San Jose State [Mountain West], California-Berkeley [Pac-12], and Chicago State[WAC]), have now dropped 14 straight games.
