Ducks Top Houston's Cougars To Stay Unbeaten

At Eugene, Oregon:

Anthony Mathis scored 18 points on Friday as the Oregon Ducks (#11 AP, Coaches; 5-0) remained unbeaten following their 78-66 home victory over Houston (2-2).

Caleb Mills came off the bench to pace the Cougars with 21 points.

Armed Forces Bowl: Black Knights, In History-Making Performance, Destroy Cougars

Fort Worth,  Texas:

Quarterback Kelvin Hopkins, Jr. ran for 170 yards and scored five touchdowns on Saturday as the Army Black Knights (11-2) annihilated the Houston Cougars (8-5) 70-14 in the Armed Forces Bowl.

The Black Knights capped off the first eleven-win season in program history.

Armoni Brooks scored 22 points and grabbed nine rebounds on Saturday night as the Houston Cougars (6-0), in their debut at their new home arena, the Fertitta Center, held off the visiting Oregon Ducks (#18 AP, #21 Coaches; 4-3) 65-61, despite 23 points from the guests' Bol Bol.

Hawaii Bowl: Bulldogs Hold Off Cougars In Honolulu

At Honolulu:

Quarterback Marcus McMaryion threw for a career-high 342 yards in completing 33 of 48 passes while Jimmy Camacho made four field goals on Sunday as the Fresno State Bulldogs (10-4) downed the Houston Cougars (7-5) 33-27 in the Hawaii Bowl.

Las Vegas Bowl: Aztecs Far Too Much For Cougars

At Las Vegas, Nevada:

Running back Donnel Pumphrey ran for 115 yards and a touchdown on Saturday as he became the all-time leading career rusher in FBS history (6,405 yards) en route to becoming the game's Most Valuable Player as the San Diego State Aztecs (11-3) overcame a 10-0 second-quarter deficit with 34 unanswered points in overpowering the Houston Cougars (9-4; playing their first game for new head coach Major Applewhite) 34-10 in the Las Vegas Bowl.

Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl: Cougars Knock Off 'Noles

At Atlanta:

In the first of the "New Year's Six" bowl games, Greg Ward, Jr. ran for two touchdowns and threw for another as the Houston Cougars (#18 in the final College Football Playoff rankings; 14-1) knocked off the Florida State Seminoles (#9 CFP; 10-3) 38-24 in Thursday's Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl.

Armed Forces Bowl: Late Comeback Carries Cougars Past Pitt Panthers

At Fort Worth, Texas:

In Friday's edition of the Armed Forces Bowl, quarterback Greg Ward threw three touchdown passes in the final 3:41 of the game and completed the game-winning two-point conversion pass to Deontay Greenberry (who also caught a touchdown pass) as the Houston Cougars (8-5) shocked the Pittsburgh Panthers (6-7) 35-34.  Two of the Cougars' fourth-quarter touchdowns came after they had successfully recovered onside kickoffs.

BBVA Compass Bowl: Vandy Blows Big Lead, Regroups, Tops Houston

At Birmingham, Alabama:

Patton Robinette threw a pair of 50-yard touchdown passes to Jordan Matthews (and he also ran eight yards for another score) on Saturday as the Vanderbilt Commodores (9-4) recovered from blowing a 24-point lead and defeated the Houston Cougars (8-5) 41-24 in the BBVA Compass Bowl.Vandy ended the season with five straight wins and posted back-to-back nine-win seasons for the first time in school history.

Quarterback Case Keenum completed 45 of 69 passes for 532 yards and three touchdowns as the Houston Cougars (13-1; BCS #19) defeated the Penn State Nittany Lions (9-4; BCS #22) 30-14 in Monday's TicketCity Bowl.

SOUTHERN MISS WRECKS COUGARS' BCS HOPES IN C-USA TITLE GAME

Austin Davis threw for 279 yards and four touchdowns on Saturday as the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles (11-2; ranked #24 in the Bowl Championship Series rankings) knocked off the #6-ranked (BCS) Houston Cougars (12-1) 49-28 in the Conference USA Championship Game, handing the Cougars their first loss of the season and ending Houston's hopes of landing in a BCS bowl.

Air Force (8-5) , with possession of the football for more than 41 minutes, and with Jared Tew and Asher Clark running for 173 and 129 yards respectively and two touchdowns apiece, dominated Houston (10-4) 47-20 Thursday in the Bell Helicopter Armed Forces Bowl.
