Tyler Johnson caught 12 passes for 204 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Wednesday as the Minnesota Golden Gophers (#18 CFP; 11-2) upended the Auburn Tigers (#12 CFP; 9-4) 31-24 in the Outback Bowl game.

Quick Lane Bowl: Gophers Dominate Yellow Jackets In Motor City

At Detroit:

Running back Mohamed Ibrahim carried the ball 31 times for 224 yards and two touchdowns on Wednesday as the Minnesota Golden Gophers (7-6) dominated the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (7-6) 34-10 in the Quick Lane Bowl, ruining the swan song for Yellow Jackets' head football coach Phil Johnson.

At San Diego:

Shannon Brooks caught a tipped pass from Mitch Leidner for a 13-yard go-ahead touchdown in the third quarter on Tuesday as the Minnesota Golden Gophers (9-4) knocked off the Washington State Cougars (8-5) 17-12 in the Holiday Bowl.

Beavers Drop Season Opener To Gophers In Battle Of Rodents

At Minneapolis:

Rodney Smith ran for 125 yards and a pair of touchdowns on Thursday night as the Minnesota Golden Gophers, despite losing three defensive players to ejections over targeting,  overcame the visiting Oregon State Beavers 30-23 in the regular-season opener for both college football programs.

Darrell Garretson threw for 228 yards and three touchdowns for the Beavers, who have now dropped ten successive contests dating back to last season.

Quick Lane Bowl: Gophers Knock Off Chippewas, End Bowl Losing Streak

At Detroit:

Quarterback Mitch Leidner ran 13 yards for a touchdown with 4:26 remaining as the Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-7) downed the Central Michigan Chippewas (7-6) 21-14 in Monday's Quick Lane Bowl, snapping a string of seven straight post-season defeats.

All three teams that were invited to bowl games with 5-7 records (San Jose State and Nebraska, as well as the Gophers) because not enough teams had enough wins (at least six) fill all the bowl slots won.

At Orlando, Florida:

Marcus Murphy ran for 159 yards while Russell Hansbrough added 114 more and scored a touchdown on Thursday as the Missouri Tigers (11-3) manhandled the Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-5) 33-17 in the Buffalo Wild Wings Citrus Bowl (formerly the Capital One Bowl).

Quarterback Terrel Hunt ran for two touchdowns, including the game winner with 74 seconds remaining on Friday as the Syracuse Orangemen (7-6) handed the Minnesota Golden Gophers (8-5) their sixth consecutive postseason defeat with a 21-17 come from behind victory in the Texas Bowl.

At Houston:

After Seth Dodge threw a game-tying touchdown of 35 yards to Eric Ward with just over one minute remaining in regulation, D.J. Johnson intercepted a pass and returned it 39 yards, setting up Ryan Bustin's game winning 28-yard field goal as time expired as the Texas Tech Red Raiders (8-5) came from behind to upend the Minnesota Golden Gophers (6-7) 34-31 in Friday's Meineke Car Care Bowl.

CARDINAL DOMINATE SECOND HALF TO PULL AWAY FROM GOLDEN GOPHERS FOR NIT CROWN

At New York City:


Chasson Randle and Aaron Bright each scored 15 points as the Stanford Cardinal (26-11), after leading by five points at halftime, outscored the Minnesota Golden Gophers (23-15) 44-26 in the second half en route to a 75-51 victory and the championship of the National Invitational Tournament with the contest played at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.  The NIT title was the Cardinal's second (the other coming in 1991).

Cyclones Edge Gophers In Insight Bowl

At Tempe, Arizona:

In a battle of teams that had to win a game against a team from the Dakotas just to become bowl eligible, Alexander Robinson ran for 137 and Austen Arnaud threw for one touchdown and ran for another as Iowa State (7-6) capped off their first winning season since 2005 with a 14-13 win over Minnesota (6-7) Thursday in the Insight Bowl.
