CARDINAL DOMINATE SECOND HALF TO PULL AWAY FROM GOLDEN GOPHERS FOR NIT CROWN

At New York City:


Chasson Randle and Aaron Bright each scored 15 points as the Stanford Cardinal (26-11), after leading by five points at halftime, outscored the Minnesota Golden Gophers (23-15) 44-26 in the second half en route to a 75-51 victory and the championship of the National Invitational Tournament with the contest played at Madison Square Garden on Thursday.  The NIT title was the Cardinal's second (the other coming in 1991).

NIT: It's Minnesota vs Stanford For The Title

The semifinal round of the National Invitational Tournament took place on Tuesday night at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

In the opener, the Stanford Cardinal (25-11) defeated the Massachusetts Minutemen (25-12) 74-64 thanks in part to Anthony Brown's season-high 18 points.

In the nightcap, Andre Hollins scored 20 points as the Minnesota Golden Gophers (23-14) edged the Washington Huskies 68-67 (24-11) in overtime.

The Gophers and Cardinal will face-off in Thursday night's final.

NIT: Huskies End Ducks Season And Reach Semifinals

At Seattle:


In Tuesday action from the quarterfinal round of the National Invitational Tournament, Tony Wroten scored 22 points while C. J. Wilcox added 17----six of them on six free throws in the final 30 seconds----as the Washington Huskies (24-10) held off the visiting Oregon Ducks (24-10) 90-86 to advance to the semifinal round and an encounter for next Tuesday against Middle Tennessee State or Minnesota.

NIT: Ducks Outlast Hawkeyes To Advance To Quarterfinals

At Eugene, Oregon:


The Oregon Ducks (24-9) came back from a 15-point deficit to outlast the visiting Iowa Hawkeyes (18-17) 108-97 on Sunday in second-round play in the National Invitation Tournament.  Olu Ashaolu scored 18 points while Garrett Sim added 15 for the Ducks while the Hawkeyes were paced by Roy Devyn Marble, who scored a career-high 31 points. The Ducks will take on the Washington Huskies this coming Thursday at Seattle with the winner going to New York's Madison Square Garden for the semifinal round.

NIT: Ducks Too Much For Bayou Bengals

At Eugene, Oregon:


Devoe Joseph scored 25 points while Tony Woods added 14 as the third-seeded Oregon Ducks (23-9) defeated the sixth-seeded LSU Tigers (18-15) 96-76 at home in the opening round of the National Invitational Tournament on Tuesday Night.  The Ducks will host the Iowa Hawkeyes in second-round action this coming Sunday.

Ducks Go To NIT, Open At Home Against LSU; Beavers In CBI, Open At Home Against Leathernecks

The Oregon Ducks will host the LSU Tigers in opening-round action in the National Invitational Tournament with game to be played this coming Tuesday.


For the third time in four years, the Oregon State Beavers will play in the College Basketball Invitational tournament and will open at home this coming Thursday against Western Illinois.
