The semifinal round of the West Coast Conference men's basketball tournament took place on Monday with both matches contested at the Orleans Arena in suburban Las Vegas.
In the opener, Brian Wesley scored 25 points as the top-seeded Gonzaga Bulldogs (#7 in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls; 31-2) defeated the fourth-seeded Pepperdine Waves (18-13) 79-61 to advanced to their 18th consecutive league tournament final.
In the nightcap, Kyle Collinsworth scored 13 points, grabbed 14 rebounds, and dished out 11 assists to net his NCAA record-tying sixth career triple-double as the second-seeded BYU Cougars (25-8) got the better of the sixth-seeded Portland Pilots (17-15) 84-70. Chase Fischer and Tyler Haws helped the Cougars' coffers with 24 and 18 points, respectively.
BYU and Gonzaga will play for the conference title on Tuesday night.
