NCAA Midwest: Jayhawks, Mountaineers, Shockers, Terps Advance

Four games were played on Friday as action in the Midwest Region of the NCAA Men's Division I Men's Basketball Tournament continued.

At Omaha, Nebraska:

Frank Mason III scored 17 points as the second-seeded Kansas Jayhawks (27-8) manhandled the fifteenth-seeded New Mexico State Aggies (23-11) 75-56, snapping the Western Athletic Conference champions' 13-game winning streak.

Fred VanVleet scored 27 points while Ron Baker, in adding 15, converted seven of eight free throws in the final two minutes to help the seventh-seeded Wichita State Shockers (29-4) held off the tenth-seeded Indiana Hoosiers (20-14) 81-76.

At Columbus, Ohio:

Devin Williams scored 17 points and grabbed nine rebounds while Tarik Phillip converted a key three-point shot with 28 seconds left as the fifth-seeded West Virginia Mountaineers (24-9) held off the 12th-seeded debutantes Buffalo Bulls (23-10) 68-62.

Dez Wells scored 14 points as the fourth-seeded Maryland Terrapins (28-6) defeated the thirteenth-seeded Valparaiso Crusaders (28-6) 65-62.
