NCAA East: Spartans, UNI, Louisville, Sooners, UVA, Flyers Advance

Six games were played in the East Region as the second round of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament continued.

At Charlotte, North Carolina:

Denzel Valentine scored 16 points as the #7-seeded Michigan State Spartans (24-11) held off the tenth-seeded Georgia Bulldogs (21-12) 70-63.

Malcolm Brogdon scored 22 points as the second-seeded Virginia Cavaliers (30-3) held off 15th-seeded Belmont (22-11) 79-67 despite 25 points form the Bruins' Craig Bradshaw.

At Seattle:

Paul Jesperson scored 16 points and Seth Tuttle added 14 as the fifth-seeded Northern Iowa Panthers (31-3) defeated the 12th-seeded Wyoming Cowboys (25-10) 71-54.

Wayne Blackshear scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the fourth-seeded Louisville Cardinals (25-8) survived a scare from the 13th-seeded UC-Irvine Anteaters (21-13) 57-55.

At Columbus, Ohio:

TaShawn Thomas scored 18 points and Buddy Hield added 15 as the third-seeded Oklahoma Sooners (23-10) held off the #14-seeded Albany Great Danes (24-9) 69-60.

Dyshawn Pierre scored 20 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the #11-seeded Dayton Flyers (27-8) knocked off sixth-seeded Providence (22-12) 66-53, offsetting a double-double from the Friars' LaDonte Henton (18 points, 11 rebounds).
