Stanley Cup Playoffs: Maple Leafs, Devils, Avalanche Cut Respective Series Deficits To 2-1; Sharks Place Ducks On Brink Of Elimination

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Monday with four games.






EASTERN CONFERENCE:


At Toronto:


Patrick Marleau scored twice while Frederik Andersen saved 40 of 42 shots as the Toronto Maple Leafs doubled up on the visiting Boston Bruins 4-2 in game three of their conference quarterfinal series, which the Bruins still lead two games to one.


At Newark, New Jersey:


Taylor Hall, Will Butcher (power play), Stefan Noesen, Blake Coleman (shorthanded empty netter), and Ben Lovejoy (empty net) each scored once while Corey Schneider saved 34 of 36 shots as the New Jersey Devils cut the Tampa Bay Lightning's first-round series advantage to two games to one after their 5-2 game-three home victory.






WESTERN CONFERENCE:


At Denver:


Nathan MacKinnon scored twice as the Colorado Avalanche held off the Nashville Predators 5-3 at home in game three of their conference quarterfinal series, which the Predators still lead two games to one.


At San Jose, California:


Tomas Hertl, Joe Pavelski, Evander Kane, and Timo Meier all scored power-play goals while Martin Jones stopped 45 of 46 shots as the San Jose Sharks annihilated the visiting Anaheim Ducks 8-1 in game three of their opening-round series.


The Sharks can finish off the Ducks with a game-four home victory on Wednesday (7:30 PM Pacific Time, Golf Channel).
