Stanley Cup Playoffs: Lightning, Bruins, Blue Jackets (In OT), Predators, Sharks Take Series Openers

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued with five games on Thursday.



EASTERN CONFERENCE:



At Tampa, Florida:



Ondrej Palat, Tyler Johnson, Yanni Gourde (power play), Alex Killorn, and Nikita Kucherov each scored once as the Tampa Bay Lighting defeated the visiting New Jersey Devils 5-2 in the opening game of their conference semifinal series.



At Toronto:

Power-play goals from Brad Marchand, David Backes, and David Krejci powered the Boston Bruins to an opening-round series-opening 5-1 home beatdown of the Toronto Maple Leafs.



At Washington:



Artemi Panarin scored the winning goal at 6:02 of overtime as the Columbus Blue Jackets knocked off the Washington Capitals 4-3 in game one of their first-round series on the road.











WESTERN CONFERENCE:



At Nashville, Tennessee:

Filip Forsberg scored twice in the third period as the Nashville Predators overpowered the visiting Colorado Avalanche 5-2 in the opening contest of their conference quarterfinal series.



At Anaheim, California:



Evander Kane scored twice  in the second period while Martin Jones stopped all 24 shots in the San Jose Sharks' opening-round series-opening 3-0 road shutout over the Anaheim Ducks.
