Stanley Cup Playoffs: Bruins, Stars Square Respective Series At 2-2; OT Goal Sends Avalanche On Verge Of Dousing Flames

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued with three games on Wednesday.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Toronto:

David Pasternak scored twice in the second period---once on the power play----as the Boston Bruins outlasted the Toronto Maple Leafs 6-4 on the road in game four of their conference quarterfinal series, now deadlocked at two games apiece.


WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Dallas:

Roope Hintz scored twice (once on the power play) as the Dallas Stars took advantage of a four-goal opening period to smother the visiting Nashville Predators 5-1 in game four of their opening-round series, now leveled at two games apiece.

Ben Bishop helped the Stars' cause by stopping 34 of 35 Nashville shots.

At Denver:

Mikko Rantanen scored a pair of goals, one on the power play in the third period, the other being the game winner at 10:23 of overtime as the Colorado Avalanche overcame a two-goal third-period deficit to upend the visiting Calgary Flames 3-2 in the fourth game of their conference quarterfinal series.

The Avalanche, who lead the series three games to one,  can close out the Flames with a game-five victory on Calgary ice on Friday.
