Stanley Cup Playoffs: Avalanche Finish Dousing Of Flames To Advance; Maple Leafs One Win Away From Ousting Bruins

The Stanley Cup Playoffs resumed on Friday with two games.

EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Boston:

Third-period goals from Auston Matthews and Kasperi Kapanen as well as a 28-save performance from Frederik Andersen carried the Toronto Maple Leafs to a 2-1 game-five road victory over the Boston Bruins.

The Maple Leafs, who lead the conference quarterfinal series three games to two, can advance out of the first round for the first time since 2004 by finishing of the Bruins back home in Toronto in game six on Sunday.



WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Calgary, Alberta:

Mikko Rantanen and Colin Wilson scored twice (once each on the power play) as the Colorado Avalanche doused the Calgary Flames 5-1 on the road in game five and won their conference quarterfinal series four games to one.

The Avalanche will take on the Vegas-San Jose series winner in the conference semifinals (the Golden Knights currently lead their series three games to two).
