DeAndre Hunter scored 27 points (and grabbed nine rebounds) while Kyle Guy added 24 on Monday as the Virginia Cavaliers (35-3; #1, South Region) went on an 11-0 run in overtime while converting all 12 free throw attempts during the extra five minutes to hold off the Texas Tech Red Raiders (31-7; #3, West Region) 85-77 in win their first-ever men's basketball national championship.
Brandone Francis came off the bench to top the Red Raiders with 17 points.
