Tahirou Diabate topped the Pilots, who have now dropped six successive contests, with 18 points.

Beavers Stun Cardinal On Road

At Stanford, California:

Jarod Lucas scored a season-high 21 points coming off the bench on Thursday as the Oregon State Beavers (13-8 overall, 3-6 in Pac-12 play) snapped a four-game losing streak by knocking off the Stanford Cardinal (15-5, 4-3) 68-63 on the road.

Oscar da Silva topped Stanford with 22 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

Ducks Battle Back To Dump Cal Bears In Berkeley

At Berkeley, California:

Payton Pritchard scored 21 points and dished out eight assists (to become the school's all-time assists leader) on Thursday night as the Oregon Ducks (#11 AP, #12 Coaches; 18-4 overall, 7-2 in Pac-12 play) defeated the California Golden Bears (9-11, 3-4) 77-72 on the road.

Kobe Bryant, Lakers Legend Who Played On Five NBA Title Teams, R.I.P.

Kobe Bryant, the fourth-leading scorer in National Basketball Association history (33,643 points) and who starred on five Los Angeles Lakers NBA championship teams, passed away on Sunday as he and his 13-year-old daughter  were among nine people who perished in a helicopter crash in southern California.

The 41-year-old Mr. Bryant spent his entire 20-year career with the Lakers.

Skylar Chavez scored 24 points on Saturday as the Pepperdine Waves (11-10 overall, 4-3 in WCC play) held off the visiting Portland Pilots (9-13, 1-6) 80-69.

Tahirou Diabate topped the Pilots---who have now dropped five consecutive contests----with 25 points while grabbing seven rebounds.

Trojans Stretch Beavers Skid To Four Games

Chris Duarte scored 30 points and grabbed eleven rebounds as the Oregon Ducks (#12 AP, #13 Coaches; 16-4 overall, 5-2 in Pac-12 play) outscored the visiting Southern California Trojans 12-3 in the second overtime period to post a 79-70 Thursday home victory.

Payton Prtichard added 24 points to the Ducks' coffers while dishing out seven assists.

Vikings Too Tough For Weber State

At Portland, Oregon:

Alonzo Walker notched a career-high 23 points on Monday night as the Portland State Vikings (10-10 overall, 4-4 in Big Sky play) overpowered the visiting Weber State Wildcats (6-12, 2-5) 92-76.

Five Vikings scored in double figures.

Cody John and Jerrick Harding paced the Wildcats with 29 and 24 points respectively.

Men's College Hoops: Ducks Fall Out Of Top 10 In Both Polls; Beavers' Support In AP Poll Evaporates

After settling for an Evergreen State split, the Oregon Ducks dropped four spots in the Associated Press men's college basketball poll to #12, while dropping five spots to #13 in the USA Today/Coaches rankings, both were released on Monday.

After suffering double-digit defeats at the hands of both Washington and Washington State, what support the Oregon State Beavers had gained in the AP poll evaporated.

NFL Playoffs: It's Niners And Chiefs For The Marbles (And The Vince Lombardi Trophy)

The entrants in next month's Super Bowl were decided on Sunday.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Kansas City, Missouri:

Quarterback Patrick Mahomes threw for 294 yards and three touchdowns while running for 57 more yards and another score as the Kansas City Chiefs advanced to their first Super Bowl in 50 years after scoring 28 unanswered points as they overcame a ten-point deficit and overcame the visiting Tennessee Titans 35-24 in the AFC Championship Game. 



NATIONAL FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Santa Clara, California:

Running back Raheem Mostert ran for a franchise-record (regular or post-season) 220 yards while scoring four touchdowns as the San Francisco 49ers overpowered the visiting Green Bay Packers 37-20 to win the NFC Championship Game.  The Niners are heading to their first Super Bowl in seven years (and will be aiming for their first Super Bowl championship in 25 years)

Chier Maker topped the Bengals with 22 points.

Jared Rodriguez came off the bench on Saturday to score 17 points as the San Diego Toreros (8-13 overall, 1-5 in WCC play) picked up their first conference victory of the season, 77-67 on the road at the Portland Pilots' (9-11, 1-4) expense.

At Pullman, Washington:

Isaac Bonton scored 34 points while grabbing eight rebounds and dishing out eight assists on Saturday as the Washington State Cougars (12-7 overall, 3-3 in Pac-12 play) overpowered the visiting Oregon State Beavers (12-6, 2-4) 89-76.

C.J. Elleby added 22 points (along with his nine rebounds) to the Cougs' coffers.

Tres Tinkle topped the Beavers with 22 points while grabbing seven boards.

Ducks Overcome Double-Digit Second-Half Deficit, Upend Huskies In OT In Seattle

At Seattle:

Payton Pritchard scored 22 points (three of them on the game-winning bucket with 3.2 seconds remaining in overtime) while Chandler Lawson came off the bench to add 16 (to go with his 12 rebounds) as the Oregon Ducks (#8 AP, Coaches; 15-4 overall, 4-2 in Pac-12 play) overcame a 16-point second-half deficit to knock off the Washington Huskies (12-7, 2-4) 64-61 on the road on Saturday.

Ducks Finish In AP Gridiron Poll's Top Five

In the final Associated Press college football poll taken on Tuesday, the Oregon Ducks finished in the #5 position.

LSU, who won the national title on Monday, of course, finished at the top of the poll with Clemson second, Ohio State third, and Georgia fourth.

Utah was the only other Pac-12 school in the AP poll, finishing 16th.

Zeke Nnaji topped the Cats with 21 points.


NFL Playoffs: Chiefs Overcome 24-0 Deficit To Bury Texans; Packers Hold Off Visiting Seahawks For Right To Take On Niners

The NFL Playoffs' divisional round concluded on Sunday with two games.

AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Kansas City, Missouri:

Patrick Mahones completed 23 of 35 passes for 321 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City Chiefs, after trailing 24-0, reeled off 41 unanswered points en route to a 51-31 beatdown of the visiting Houston Texans to advance to the AFC Championship Game for the second straight year as they will host the Tennessee Titans next Sunday at 12:05 PM Pacific Time (CBS).

The Chiefs will try to reach the Super Bowl for the first time in fifty years.

At Green Bay, Wisconsin:

Quarterback Aaron Rodgers threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns---both of them to Davante Adams----as the Green Bay Packers held off the visiting Seattle Seahawks 28-23 to advance to the NFC Championship Game, in which they will pay a visit on the San Francisco 49ers next Sunday at 3:40 PM Pacific Time (FOX).

Holland Woods scored two of his career-high 30 points with his layup with two seconds left to lift the Portland State Vikings (8-9 overall, 2-3 in Big Sky play) upended the Montana State Bobcats (9-8, 3-3) 77-76.

Harald Frey, who paced the Bobcats with 26 points, missed a desperation three-point attempt as time expired.

Cougars Maul Pilots In Provo

At Provo, Utah:

Zac Seljaas came off the bench to score a season-high 21 points on Saturday night as the BYU Cougars (13-5 overall, 2-1 in WCC play) mauled the visiting Portland Pilots (9-9, 1-2) 96-70.

The Cougars had six players---all five starters as well as the aforementioned Mr. Seljaas----scoring in double figures.

At Eugene, Oregon:

The NFL Playoffs continued on Saturday as the divisional playoff round commenced.

Running back Tevin Coleman ran for 105 yards and two touchdowns as the San Francisco 49ers won their first-ever playoff game at Levi Stadium, dominating the visiting Minnesota Vikings 27-10 to advance to their first NFC title game in six years (which they will host next Sunday), and their 16th overall (tying the Pittsburgh Steelers' record for most conference championship game appearances).



AMERICAN FOOTBALL CONFERENCE:

At Baltimore:

Quarterback Ryan Tannehill threw for 88 yards and two touchdowns while running back Derrick Henry carried the ball 30 times for 195 (becoming the first player in NFL history to run for 180+ yards in three straight games) as the Tennessee Titans advanced to their first AFC title game in 17 years by shocking the Baltimore Ravens 28-12 on the road in their divisional playoff.

The Ravens' Lamar Jackson become the first quarterback in NFL playoff history to throw for more than 300 yards (365) and run for more than 100 yards (143) in a single game.  Even though he threw for a touchdown, he turned the ball over three times (two interceptions and one lost fumble).

After splitting their first two conference games, the Oregon Ducks dropped to #9 in the USA Today/Coaches (down three spots) and Associated Press (down five places) men's college basketball polls that were released on Monday.

Still no support in either poll for the three other Oregon men's Division I basketball programs.

LendingTree Bowl: Ragin' Cajuns Knock Off RedHawks To Cap Off First 11-Win Season

At Mobile, Alabama:

Quarterback Levi Lewis completed 19 of 26 passes for 246 yards and two touchdowns on Monday as the Louisiana-Lafayette Ragin' Cajuns (11-3) defeated the Miami (Ohio) RedHawks (8-6) 27-17 in the LendingTree Bowl, the last bowl to be contested before next Monday's College Football Playoff title game between LSU and Clemson.

The victory capped off the Cajuns' first eleven-win season in program history.  It was their first bowl victory outside Louisiana since their 1944 Oil Bowl triumph in Houston against Arkansas A&M (now Arkansas-Montecello).

Ethan Thompson scored 24 points and grabbed nine rebounds on Sunday as the Oregon State Beavers (11-3 overall, 1-1 in Pac-12 play) overcame a 12-point second-half deficit and knocked off the Colorado Buffaloes (12-3, 1-1) 76-68 on the road.

Zach Reichle added 19 points to the Beavers' coffers.

Tyler Bey topped the Buffs with 20 points while grabbing eight rebounds.

NFL Playoffs: Saints Snakebitten Again As Vikings Win In OT To Set Up Date With Niners; Seahawks Knock Off Eagles In Philly

The opening round of the NFL Playoffs concluded on Sunday with two games, both in the National Football Conference.

At New Orleans:

Quarterback Kirk Cousins threw a four-yard touchdown pass to tight end Kyle Rudolph in overtime as the Minnesota Vikings knocked off the New Orleans Saints 26-20 in their opening-round contest.

The game-winning TD was set up by a 43-yard pass to Adam Thielen.

It was the Vikings' first road playoff victory in 15 years.

Minnesota running back Dalvin Cook scored two touchdowns.

It was the third straight year that the Saints' season ended on the game's final play.



At Philadelphia:

Quarterback Russell Wilson threw a 53-yard touchdown pass to D.K. Metcalf while Marshawn Lynch ran for another score as the Seattle Seahawks held off the Philadelphia Eagles 17-9 on the road.
