HOOSIERS HOLD OFF HURRICANES TO CAP OFF PERFECT SEASON WITH COLLEGE FOOTBALL NATIONAL TITLE

At Hard Rock Stadium, Miami Gardens, Florida: Quarterback Fernando Mendoza completed 16 of 27 passes for 186 yards and rushed 12 yards for the game-winning touchdown in the fourth quarter as the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers (16-0) held off the game tenth-seeded Miami Hurricanes (13-3) 27-21 to win their first national collegiate championship winning the College Football Playoff Championship Game.


The Hoosiers became the first team in college football's top level since Yale (in 1894) to go 16-0.

College Football Playoff: Hoosiers Roast Ducks, Will Face Hurricanes In National Championship Game

At Mercedes Benz Stadium, Atlanta: 


Quarterback Fernando Mendoza completed a virtually perfect game on Friday as he completed 17 of 20 passes for 177 yards and five touchdowns as the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers (15-0) dismantled the fifth-seeded Oregon Ducks (13-2) 56-22 in the Chick-fil-A Peach Bowl, the second College Football Playoff semifinal.  


Hoosiers defensive back D'Angelo Ponds set the pace on the game's opening play from scrimmage as he intercepted Ducks quarterback Dante Moore's pass and ran it back for a touchdown.


Indiana will face off against the Miami Hurricanes (13-2) in the CFP National Championship Game at Hard Rock Cafe Stadium on Monday, January 19 (4:30 PM PST, ESPN).

Gator Bowl: Vols Hold Off Hoosiers

At Jacksonville, Florida:

The Tennessee Volunteers (8-5) scored twice in the final 30 seconds on Thursday night to erase a 13-point deficit and upend the Indiana Hoosiers (8-5) 23-22 in the Gator Bowl.

After a 1-4 start, the Vols ended with six straight wins

Hoosiers Hold Off Vikings At Home

At Bloomington, Indiana:

Al Durham scored 18 points on Saturday as the Indiana Hoosiers (2-0) held off the visiting Portland State Vikings (1-1) 85-74.

Holland Woods and Matt Hauser scored 27 and 21 points respective to pace the pesky Vikings.

Foster Farms Bowl: Utes Top Hoosiers

At Santa Clara, California:

Joe Williams ran for 222 yards and a touchdown and Andy Phillips kicked the game-winning 24-yard field goal (his fourth of the game) with 84 seconds remaining on Wednesday as the Utah Runnin' Utes (9-4; #19 in the CFP rankings, #23 in the USA Today/Coaches poll) upended the Indiana Hoosiers (6-7) 26-24 in the Foster Farms Bowl.

Pinstripe Bowl: Blue Devils Top Hoosiers In OT For First Bowl Win Since '61

At Bronx, New York:

Ross ("Don't Call Me Atremus Gordon") Martin kicked a 36-yard field goal in overtime to lift the Duke Blue Devils (8-5) to their first post-season victory since the 1961 Cotton Bowl, a 44-41 triumph over the Indiana Hoosiers (6-7) in Saturday's Pinstripe Bowl.

The Hoosiers are still waiting for their first bowl win since the 1991 Copper Bowl.
