Ducks Spank Eagles At Home

 At Eugene, Oregon:


Eugene Omoruyi scored 18 points while Eric Williams, Jr. added 17 to go with his 10 rebounds as the Oregon Ducks (2-1) downed the visiting Eastern Washington Eagles (0-3) 69-52.


The Ducks extended their home winning streak to 23 games.

Eagles Hold Off Vikings On Road

At Portland, Oregon:

Jacob Davidson scored 30 points to carry the Eastern Washington Eagles (17-8 overall, 10-4 in Big Sky play) past the home-standing Portland State Vikings (12-14, 6-8) 89-81 on the road.

Mason Peatling did his bit for the Eagles by scoring 22 points, grabbing 11 rebounds, dishing out five assists, and registering three blocks.

Matt Hauser paced the Vikes with 24 points.

Eagles Hold Off Visiting Vikings

At Cheney, Washington:

Jacob Davidson scored 26 points on Saturday as the Eastern Washington Eagles (10-5 overall, 2-1 in Big Sky play) held off the visiting Portland State Vikings (7-9, 1-3) 71-69.

Mason Peatling added 20 points to the Eagles' coffers while grabbing 13 rebounds.

Holland Woods scored 22 points to pace the Vikings while dishing out seven assists.

GRIZZLIES OUTLAST EWU FOR BIG SKY TOURNEY CROWN

Sayeed Pridgett scored 18 points on Saturday as the top-seeded Montana Grizzlies (26-8) held off the third-seeded Eastern Washington Grizzlies (16-18) 68-62 for their second consecutive Big Sky Conference men's basketball tournament championship.

Eagles End Vikings' Winning Streak

At Cheney, Washington:

Kim Aiken, who scored 19 points and grabbed nine rebounds, sank the game-winning three-pointer as the buzzer to carry the Eastern Washington Eagles (12-17 overall, 10-8 in Big Sky play) to a 68-66 Saturday home win over the Portland State Vikings (14-15, 9-9).

Duane Stickland scored a career-high-tying 20 points for the Vikings, whose five-game winning streak came to an end.

Vikings Clip Eagles' Wings

At Portland, Oregon:

Holland Woods (who dished out eleven assists) and Jamie Orme each scored 15 points on Thursday night as the Portland State Vikings (7-11 overall, 2-5 in Big Sky Conference play) snapped a three-game losing streak by defeating the visiting Eastern Washington Eagles (5-13, 3-4) 78-65, more than offsetting a career-high 26 points from the guests' Jacob Davidson.

GRIZ OVERPOWER EAGLES, CAPTURE BIG SKY TOURNEY TITLE AND NCAA TOURNEY BERTH

At Reno, Nevada:

The top-seeded Montana Grizzlies (26-7), with Michel Oguine scoring 21 points,  defeated the third-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles (20-14) 82-65 in Saturday's championship game of the Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, contested at the Reno Events Center.

The Grizzlies gained the Big Sky's automatic NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament berth (the Griz will be making their first such appearance since 2013).

Holland Woods' Hot Hand Carries Vikings Past EWU

At Portland, Oregon:

Holland Woods converted all ten shots from the field (a school record) en route to a career-high 29-point performance on Saturday as the Portland State Vikings (14-9 overall, 4-6 in Big Sky play) knocked off the visiting Eastern Washington Eagles (12-12, 7-4) 94-81.

Cory Benzel hit seven three pointers to top the Eagles with 21 points.

Bogdan Bliznyuk scored 28 points and grabbed 12 rebounds on Thursday night as the Eastern Washington Eagles (7-9 overall, 2-1 in Big Sky play) held off the visiting Portland State Vikings (10-5, 0-2) 81-74.

Deontae North scored 21 points to top the Vikings.

Vikings Drop 3-OT Heartbreaker On Road

At Cheney, Washington:

Jacob Wiley (who grabbed 17 rebounds) and Bogdan Bliznyuk (who grabbed 10 rebounds) tied Rodney Stuckey's single-game school record by scoring 45 points apiece on Saturday as the Eastern Washington Eagles (16-8 overall, 8-3 in Big Sky play) outlasted the visiting Portland State Vikings (11-10, 4-6) 130-124 in triple overtime.

The game set Big Sky Conference records for most points scored by a single team and most points combined scored by both teams.

De'Sean Parsons (35 points) and Deontae North (30) each delivered career highs for the Vikings.

Cameron Forte Helps Vikes Cool Off Hot Eagles At Home

At Portland, Oregon:

Cameron Forte scored 32 points (on 14-of-20 shooting from the field) and grabbed nine rebounds on Saturday night as the Portland State Vikings (9-16 overall, 5-9 in Big Sky play), with five players scoring in double figures,  ended the Eastern Washington Eagles' (16-11, 10-5) seven-game winning streak with a 107-91 home victory.

The win ended the Vikings' four-game losing skid.

Austin McBroom paced the Eagles with 36 points while Venky Jois added 20 to the EWU coffers.

Austin and Venky's Excellent Adventure Equals Easy Triumph For Eagles Over Vikings

At Portland, Oregon:

Austin McBroom scored 25 points (while making six of ten three-point shots) while Venky Jois added 23 (to go with his nine rebounds) on Thursday night as the Eastern Washington Eagles (10-10 overall, 4-4 in Big Sky play) dominated the Portland State Vikings (7-11, 3-4) 112-83 on the road, easily overcoming the hosts' Cameron Forte's career-high 37 points (he grabbed 13 rebounds).

Marcus Who? Vernon Adams, Jr. Leads Ducks To Season-Opening Win Over Former Team

At Eugene, Oregon:

In Saturday's regular-season opening contest for both schools, quarterback Vernon Adams, Jr. haunted his former team as he threw for two touchdowns before leaving the game after a scary fourth-quarter hit while Royce Freeman ran for 180 yards and three TDs as the Oregon Ducks (#7 in the Associated Press pre-season poll, #5 in the USA Today/Coaches rankings) outgunned the visiting Eastern Washington Eagles 61-42, snapping the visitors' five-game winning streak against Beaver State teams.

EAGLES KNOCK OFF GRIZZLIES IN MISSOULA, WIN BIG SKY TITLE AND NCAA TOURNEY BERTH

At Missoula, Montana:

Tyler Harvey scored 18 points as the second-seeded Eastern Washington Eagles (26-8) defeated the top-seeded Montana Grizzlies (20-12) 69-65 on Saturday night to win the championship game of the Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Tournament, despite a 23-point, 17-rebound performance from the Grizzlies' Martin Breunig.

With the victory, the Eagles gained the Big Sky Conference's automatic NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament berth.

Vikings Knock Off Eagles On Road, End EWU's 6-Game Winning Streak And Hand Them First Home Loss Of Season

At Cheney, Washington:

DeShaun Wiggins scored 14 points on Saturday as the Portland State Vikings (12-11 overall, 6-7 in Big Sky play), with four players scoring in double figures, stunned Eastern Washington (19-6, 10-2) 68-66 on the road, snapping the Eagles' six-game winning streak and handing EWU their first home defeat of the season.

The Eagles' Tyler Harvey, the nation's leading scorer, returned to action after missing three games with an injury and scored 22 points.  However, he made only two of 13 three-point shots.

Tyler Harvey scored 23 points while Parker Kelly added 19 (shooting six for nine from three-point range) and Bogdan Bliznyuk contributed 18 from the bench as the Eastern Washington Eagles (4-0 in Big Sky play, 13-4 overall) held off the Portland State Vikings (2-3, 8-7) 92-85 on Thursday on the road despite 26 points from the Vikings' Gary Winston.

Kyle Richardson, who connected eight of his ten shots from the field, scored 22 points and grabbed eight rebounds on Monday as the Portland State Vikings (13-12 overall, 8-8 in Big Sky play) defeated the Eastern Washington Eagles (13-14, 8-8) 87-76 on the road, despite 23 points from the Eagles' Tyler Harvey.

Vikings Top Visiting Eagles In Big Sky Play

At Portland, Oregon:

Andre Winston, Jr. scored 23 points as the Portland State Vikings (9-8 overall, 4-4 in Big Sky play) scored 62 points in the second half as they overcame a 10-point halftime deficit and knocked off the visiting Eastern Washington Eagles (8-11, 3-5)  92-83 on Monday night, despite Ognjen Miljkoic's 32 points for the Eagles.

Beavers Knocked Off At Home By FCS Eagles From EWU

At Corvallis, Oregon:

Quarterback Vernon Adams completed 23 of 30 passes for 411 yards and four touchdowns while running for two more scores, including the winning TD from two yards out with 18 seconds remaining as the Eastern Washington Eagles from the Football Championship Subdivision (Big Sky Conference) knocked off the #25-ranked (in both the Associated Press and USA Today/Coaches polls) Oregon State Beavers 49-46 in the regular-season opener for both schools on Saturday.
