Timbers Drop Season Opener To Galaxy On Road

At Carson, California:

In Sunday's Major League Soccer regular-season opener for both clubs, Ola Kamara (32') and Romain Alessandrini (34') each scored once in the first half as the Los Angeles Galaxy held off the visiting Portland Timbers 2-1.

Sebastian Blanco scored for the Timbers in the 66th minute.

The defeat spoiled the debut of Giovanni Savarese as Portland's new head coach.

The Timbers will try to get on the winning track this coming Saturday as they pay a visit on the New York Red Bulls at 4:00 PM Pacific Standard Time (ROOT Sports Northwest).
