Big Sky Conference Tournament Opens With Wins By Fighting Hawks, Bears, T-Birds, Vikings

The Big Sky Conference Men's Basketball Tournament opened on Tuesday at the Reno Events Center in Reno, Nevada with four games.


In the opening contest, Marlon Stewart scored 29 points as the #8-seeded North Dakota Fighting Hawks (12-19) nosed out the ninth-seeded Montana State Bobcats (13-19) 76-74.


In the second game, the fifth-seeded Northern Colorado Bears(21-11), with Jordan Davis scoring 21 points, downed the #12-seeded Northern Arizona Lumberjacks (5-27) 82-59.


In game three, Brandon Better scored 18 points as the tenth-seeded Southern Utah Thunderbirds (12-18) knocked off the seventh-seeded Idaho State Bengals (14-16) 76-68.


Brandon Boyd topped the Bengals with 22 points while Geno Luzcando added 21.


In the Tuesday finale, Holland Woods scored 18 points to carry the #6-seeded Portland State Vikings (20-12) past the #11-seeded  Sacramento State Hornets (7-25) 71-67.
