NCAA West: Aggies, Tar Heels, Musketeers, 'Noles Advance

The NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament's Round of 64 continued on Friday with sixteen games, four of them in the West Regional.

At Charlotte, North Carolina (Spectrum Center):

Game # 1:

Admon Gilder scored 18 points as the Texas A and M Aggies (21-12), seeded seventh, held off the tenth-seeded Providence Frairs (21-14) 73-69.

Rodney Bullock scored 22 points to pace the Friars, while Alpha Diallo added 21 to the Providence coffers. 

Game #2:

Kenny Williams scored 18 points as the second-seeded North Carolina Tar Heels (26-10) defeated fifteenth-seeded Lipscomb (23-10) 84-66, spoiling the Bisons' NCAA Tourney debut (the Nashville-based school provided the tournament's lone debutantes).



At Nashville, Tennessee (Bridgestone Arena):

Game #1:

J.P. Macura scored 29 points while Trevon Bluiett added 26 and Kerem Kanter 24 as the top-seeded Xavier Musketeers (29-5) overpowered the sixteenth-seeded Texas Southern Tigers (16-20) 102-83.

Demontrae Jefferson paced the Tigers with 20 points.

Game #2:

Mfiondu Kabengele scored 14 points as the ninth-seeded Florida State Seminoles (21-11) used a balanced attack to defeat the eighth-seeded Missouri Tigers (20-13) 67-54.
