Four games were played on Wednesday at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in suburban Las Vegas as the Pacific-12 Conference Men's Basketball Tournament commenced.
In the opening contest, the eighth-seeded Utah Runnin' Utes (21-10) defeated the ninth-seeded Washington Huskies (17-15) 67-61 to advance to Thursday's quarterfinal round----and an encounter with top-seeded Arizona.

Askia Booker scored 21 points as the fifth-seeded Colorado Buffaloes (22-10) held off 12th-seeded Southern California (11-21) 59-56. The Buffaloes will face third-seeded California in a Thursday quarterfinal contest.
At 6:00 PM Pacific Time:
In the 342nd meeting between Civil War rivals, but the first in the Pac-12 Tournament, Joseph Young scored 15 of his 19 points in the second half as the seventh-seeded Oregon Ducks (23-8) pulled away from the tenth-seeded Oregon State Beavers (16-15) en route to an 88-74 victory, despite 20 points from the Beavers' Angus Brandt, and earned a Thursday quarterfinal encounter with second-seeded UCLA.

Chasson Randle scored 22 points while Josh Powell added 16 as the sixth-seeded Stanford Cardinal (20-11) topped the eleventh-seeded Washington State Cougars (10-21) 74-63. The Cardinal on Thursday will face off with the third-seeded Arizona State Sun Devils in the quarterfinal round.
