NCAA South: Flyers Knock Off Stanford, Reach First Elite Eight Since '84, Get Shot At Gators (Who Top UCLA To Make Fourth Straight Elite Eight Appearance)

The semifinal round of the South Region of the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament was played on Thursday with both games contested at the FedExForum in Memphis, Tennessee:

In the opener, Jordan Sibert scored 18 points while Kendall Pollard came off the bench to add a season-high 12 as the #11-seeded Dayton Flyers (26-10) defeated the #10-seeded Stanford Cardinal (23-13) 82-72 to reach the Elite Eight for the first time since 1984.

In the nightcap, Michael Frazier II scored 19 points (and made five three-point baskets) as the top-overall-seeded Florida Gators (35-2) racked up their 29th straight victory (continuing the longest winning streak in school history) 79-88 over the fourth-seeded UCLA Bruins (28-9).  The Gators advanced to their fourth consecutive regional final.

Florida will take on Dayton on Saturday (3:09 PM Pacific Time, TBS) in the South Regional final in Memphis with the winner advancing to the Final Four.
