NCAA East: Spartans Hold Off Harvard; UConn Downs 'Nova In Battle Of Old Big East Rivals

Two games in the third round of the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Tournament were played on Saturday in the East Region.

At Spokane, Washington:

Branden Dawson scored a career-high 26 points and grabbed nine rebounds as the fourth-seeded Michigan State Spartans (28-8) held off the 12th-seeded Harvard Crimson (27-5) 80-73. Wesley Saunders paced the Ivy League champions with 22 points.

At Buffalo, New York:

Shabazz Napier scored 25 points as the seventh-seeded Connecticut Huskies (28-8) knocked off the second-seeded Villanova Wildcats (29-5) 77-65 in a battle of former Big East Conference rivals.
