The 2014 NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament commenced with two games played at Dayton, Ohio on Tuesday.
In the opener at the University of Dayton Arena, D. J. Evans scored 22 points as the Albany Great Danes (19-14) picked up their first-ever NCAA Tournament victory, 71-64 over Mount St. Mary's (16-17). Next up for the Great Danes, an appointment with the Florida Gators----not only the South Region's top seed, but the tournament's top overall seed---on Thursday in Orlando, Florida.
In the nightcap, T. J. Warren scored 16 of his 25 points in the second half as the North Carolina State Wolfpack (22-12) ran away from the Xavier Musketeers (21-14) 74-59 to gain a Thursday Midwest Regional matchup with the Saint Louis Billikens.
