Stanley Cup Playoffs: Canes Put Rangers On Cusp Of Elimination; Penguins, Jets, Oilers Level Respective Series At 1-1; Round-Robin Wins For Lightning, Knights

The Stanley Cup Playoffs are set to continue on Monday with six more games.

EASTERN CONFERENCE (All games played in Toronto):

SEEDING ROUND ROBIN:

Brayden Point and Nikita Kucherov converted their penalty shots as the Tampa Bay Lightning knocked off the Washington Capitals 3-2 after winning the shootout 2-1.

QUALIFYING ROUND (All series best of five):

Game #1:

Andrei Svechnikov produced a hat trick (one of the goals was on the power play) as the Carolina Hurricanes proved too much for the New York Rangers 4-1 in game two of their seriers.

Petr Mrazek saved 23 of 24 shots for the victory.

The Canes, who now lead the series two games to none,  can advance to the Eastern Conference quarterfinals with a game-three victory on Tuesday (5:00 PM Pacific Time, NBCSN)

Game #2:

Sidney Crosby, Jason Zucker, and Jake Guentzel (empty net) each scored once as the Pittsburgh Penguins squared their series with the Montreal Canadiens at one game apiece after their 3-1 game-two victory.



WESTERN CONFERENCE (All games played in Edmonton):

SEEDING ROUND-ROBIN:

Mark Stone, Nate Schmidt, William Carrier, and William Karlsson (empty net) each scored a third-period goal as the Vegas Golden Knights came back from two goals down to upend the Dallas Stars 5-3.

QUALIFYING ROUND (All series best of five):

Game #1:

Nikolaj Ehlers scored the power-play game winner in the third period as the Winnipeg Jets held off the Calgary Flames 3-2 in game two to level their series at one game apiece.

Game #2:

Connor McDaniel produced a hat trick (with one goal scored on the power play) as the Edmonton Oilers equalized their series with the Chicago Blackhawks at a game apiece after doubling up the club from the Windy City 6-3 in game two.
