Stanley Cup Playoffs: Knights Slay Blackhawks, Advance To West Semis: Caps Avoid Elimination; Flyers, Stars One Win Away From Advancing


The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Friday with four games.

EASTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Toronto):

Game #1:

Michael Raffi and Philippe Myers each scored once while Carter Hart posted another shutout by stopping all 29 shots as the Philadelphia Flyers blanked the Montreal Canadiens 2-0 in game four of their conference quarterfinal series.

The Flyers, who lead three games to one, can wrap up the series with a game-five victory on Wednesday (5:00 PM Pacific Time, NBCSN)

Game #2:

Alexander Ovechkin scored twice (one on the power play) as the Washington Capitals avoided elimination by defeating the New York Islanders 3-2 in game four of their series.

The Islanders, up three games to one, can finish off the Caps with a game-five win on Thursday.

WESTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Edmonton):

Game #1:

John Klingberg scored the game winner in the third period as the Dallas Stars defeated the Calgary Flames 3-2 in game five of their series as they now lead the series three games to two with a chance to close out the Flames with a game-six victory on Thursday (7:30 PM Pacific Time, NBCSN).

Game #2:

Alex Tuch scored the winning goal early in the third period as the Vegas Golden Knights upended the Chicago Blackhawks 4-3 in game five and won their series four games to one.
