Stanley Cup Playoffs: Islanders, Avalanche, Canucks Extend Series Leads To 2-0, Habs Level Series With Flyers; Flames Take 2-1 Lead Over Stars

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Friday with five games.

EASTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Toronto):

Game #1:

Tomas Tatar and Jesperi Kotkaniemi each scored twice (with each scoring once on the power play) while Carey Price saved all 30 shots as the Montreal Canadiens manhandled the Philadelphia Flyers 5-0 in game two to square their conference quarterfinal series at one game apiece.

Game #2:

Brock Nelson scored what proved to be the winning goal in the second period while Semyon Varlamov saved 23 of 25 shots as the New York Islanders overcame Alexander Ovechkin's two-goal performance and overpowered the Washington Capitals 5-2 in game two and extended their series lead to two games to none.



WESTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Edmonton):

Game #1:

Andre Burakovsky scored the winning goal with 2:53 remaining in regulation as the Colorado Avalanche defeated the Arizona Coyotes 3-2 in game two of their conference quarterfinal series, which the Avs now lead two games to none.

Game #2:

Bo Horvath's second goal of the game at 5:55 of overtime propelled the Vancouver Canucks to a 4-3 game-two victory over the St. Louis Blues.

The Canucks now lead the defending Stanley Cup champs two games to none.

Game #3:

Mikael Backlund (shorthanded) and T.J. Brodie provided the goals while Cam Talbot stopped all 35 shots for the shutout as the Calgary Flames now lead their series with the Dallas Stars at two games to one after their 2-0 game-three victory.
