Stanley Cup Playoffs: Avalanche, Flyers Win Round-Robin Openers; Jackets, Coyotes, Wild Take Series Openers In Qualifying Round

The Stanley Cup Playoffs continued on Sunday with five games.

TOP-FOUR SEEDING ROUND ROBIN:

EASTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Toronto):

Michael Raffi, Nate Thompson, and Philippe Myers each scored a second-period goal while Carter Hart saved 34 of 35 shots as the Philadelphia Flyers defeated the Boston Bruins 4-1.



WESTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Edmonton, Alberta):

With one second remaining in regulation, Nazem Kadri scored the game-winning power-play goal as the Colorado Avalanche knocked off the St. Louis Blues 2-1.



QUALIFYING ROUND (All series best three-of-five):

EASTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Toronto):

Cam Atkinson and Alexander Wennberg (empty net) each scored once in the third period while Joonas Korpisalo saved all 28 shots as the Columbus Blue Jackets blanked the Toronto Maple Leafs 2-0.



WESTERN CONFERENCE (All games played at Edmonton, Alberta):

Game #1:

Michael Grabner's shorthanded goal in the second period proved to be the game winner as the Arizona Coyotes held off the Nashville Predators 4-3 in their series opener.

Game #2:

Jared Spurgeon scored twice (one on the power play; the other shorthanded) as the Minnesota Wild downed the Vancouver Canucks 3-0 in their series-opening match.

Wild goalie Alex Stalock saved all 28 shots for the shutout.
