Timbers And RSL Battle To Scoreless Draw In Portland; Both Clubs In Playoffs

At Portland, Oregon:

In Saturday Major League Soccer action, both clubs had their chances at scoring, but in the end, the Portland Timbers, who earlier in the day clinched their first-ever MLS Cup playoff berth because of Seattle's fourth straight defeat (2-0 at FC Dallas), battled visiting Real Salt Lake to a 0-0 stalemate, enabling the guests to lock up their sixth consecutive postseason berth.

The Timbers, who still led the Western Conference standings as of Saturday night, will close out the regular season next Saturday night at Carson, California against Chivas USA (ROOT Sports Northwest, 7:30 PM, PDT).
