In the opening match of the Major League Soccer Cup Playoffs on Wednesday, Brad Evans (28') and Eddie Johnson (90'+3) provided the scoring as the Seattle Sounders----despite finishing the game with ten men----blanked the visiting Colorado Rapids 2-0 in a Western Conference one-match knockout playoff.
The Sounders will host their Cascadia arch-rivals, the Portland Timbers on Saturday (7:00 PM, Pacific Time, NBCSN) in the opening game of a two-match Western Conference semifinal series, with the return contest to be played at Portland next Thursday (8:00 PM Pacific Time, NBCSN).
