MLB Playoffs (American League Divisional Series): Big Papi Helps BoSox Take 2-0 Series Lead; A's Win In Bottom Of 9th Inning, Square Series With Tigers

Baseball's American League divisional playoff series continued on Saturday with two games.

At Boston:

David Ortiz hit two home runs as the Boston Red Sox defeated the visiting Tampa Bay Rays 7-4.  The Red Sox, who now lead the series two games to none (the only series in this round not deadlocked at a game apiece) can finish off the Rays with a game-three victory on Monday in St. Petersburg, Florida.

At Oakland:

Stephen Vogt delivered the game-winning single in the bottom of the ninth inning while Sonny Gray pitched eight innings of four-hit, nine-strikeout baseball as the Oakland Athletics squared their divisional playoff series a one game apiece with a 1-0 home win over the Detroit Tigers, whose Justin Verlander pitched seven innings of four-hit, eleven-strikeout ball.
