At Kansas City, Kansas:

After a contest that was deadlocked at 1-1 after regulation time, followed by 30 scoreless overtime minutes, Claudio Bieler, Paulo Magamura, Benny Feilhaber, Seth Sinovic, C.J. Sapong, Chance Myers, and, with the game winner, Aurelien Collin (who scored the game-tying goal in the 76th minute and was named game Most Valuable Player) all converted their spot kicks as  Sporting Kansas City won their first Major League Soccer championship since 2000 by winning the longest penalty-kick shootout in league history, 7-6 in ten rounds over visiting Real Salt Lake on Saturday.  Lovel Powell had a chance to tie the shootout and force an eleventh round, but his shot bounced off the crossbar.
