NCAA East: Hoosiers Too Much For Dukes; Fighting Ilini Knock Off Buffs

Second-round action in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament continued on Friday with four games from the East Regional.

At Dayton, Ohio:

In the first of two games at the University of Dayton's arena, Khalif Wyatt scored 31 points (making six free throws in the final 32 seconds) as the #9-seeded Temple Owls (24-9) knocked off the #8-seeded North Carolina State Wolfpack (24-11) 76-72.

In the second contest, Yogi Ferrell scored 14 of his 16 pints in the first six minutes as the top-seeded Indiana Hoosiers (28-6) had no trouble as they defeated #16-seeded James Madison (21-15) 83-62 in a game that wasn't as close as the final score indicated despite 24 points from the Dukes' Andre Madison.

At Austin, Texas:

In the first of two East Regional contests played at the Frank Erwin Center, Durand Scott scored 21 points as the second-seeded Miami Hurricanes (28-6) blew away the fifteenth-seeded Pacific Tigers (22-13) 78-49.

In the second match, Brandon Paul scored 17 points as the seventh-seeded Illinois Fighting Ilini (23-12) fought off the tenth-seeded Colorado Buffaloes (21-12) 57-49.
