Stanley Cup Final: Sharks Finish Off Blues, Advance To First Final

At San Jose, California:

Joel Ward scored twice on Wednesday as the San Jose Sharks won their first-ever Western Conference championship by defeating the visiting St. Louis Blues 5-2 in game six of the Western Conference final.

The Sharks, who began play in 1991, won the series four games to two and will play in their first-ever Stanley Cup Final against the Pittsburgh-Tampa Bay Eastern Conference final winner (the series is deadlocked at three games apiece).

The Blues are still looking for their first final appearance since being swept in four straight games by the Boston Bruins in 1970.
