Stanley Cup Playoffs

The Stanley Cup Playoffs  continued on Wednesday as the opening round ended----and the second round commenced.

WESTERN CONFERENCE:

At Anaheim, California:

In the finale of the opening round of this year's Stanley Cup Playoffs, Colin Wilson and Paul Gaustad each scored a goal while Pekka Rinne saved 36 of 37 shots as the Nashville Predators knocked off the Anaheim Ducks 2-1 on the road in the seventh and deciding game of their conference quarterfinal series.

The Predators will open their conference semifinal series against the San Jose Sharks on the road this coming Friday.


EASTERN CONFERENCE:

At Tampa, Florida:

In the curtain-raiser for the playoffs' second round, Shane Prince scored twice while Travis Hamonic, John Tavares (power play), and Cal Clutterbuck (empty net) each scored once apiece as the New York Islanders downed the home-standing Tampa Bay Lightning 5-3 in the opening contest of their conference semifinal series.
